Dili (May 26, 2025) – The four trainers of ISFIT have successfully concluded their internship at Universitas Katolik Atma Jaya (UAJ), Jacarta, Indonesia. The closing ceremony took place in the Rectory Room of UAJ.
The internship program between ISFIT and UAJ was established as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both institutions, aiming to strengthen collaboration in key academic and administrative areas. This internship served as a concrete realization of the MOU’s objectives. The program lasted one month and was carried out by four ISFIT trainers: Mr. Americo da Cruz, Ms. Elisabeth de Andrade, Mr. Inácio de Loyola, and Mr. Tomas João Messah Santos.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Yuda Turana, Sp. S (K), Rector of UAJ, emphasized that this internship program marks the beginning of a long-term partnership and open communication between the two universities, particularly in the fields of Human Resources, Research, Library Services, and Academic Administration. He expressed confidence that this collaboration would continue to develop and expand over time.
The Rector further highlighted the importance of learning from one another and expressed his hope that this initiative would lead to the creation of additional joint programs in the future. According to him, the ultimate goal is to build connections and foster cooperation, enabling future academic and professional growth for both institutions. He also expressed his gratitude for the productive interactions over the past three weeks and encouraged alumni from both universities to maintain communication beyond formal programs.
Following the Rector’s remarks, Ms. Elisabeth da Silva Andrade, a representative from ISFIT, expressed her sincere appreciation to UAJ for its warm welcome and support in facilitating the internship. She noted that ISFIT had sent four staff members to intern in various divisions, including Academic Administration, Human Resources, Research and Community Service, and Library Services. She underscored that this program represents a starting point for further initiatives that should be continued and expanded in the future.
As part of the closing ceremony, ISFIT presented symbolic gifts as a token of appreciation, including a traditional Timorese textile (Tais) and a package of Timor-Leste coffee, which were offered to the Rector, the representatives of the International Office, and each unit’s leaders. Additionally, certificates were awarded to all internship participants in recognition of their contributions.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Rector of UAJ, the Vice-Rector, representatives from the International Office, and the heads of the units where the trainers had completed their internship.
